Mad Men Style Bar Cart

Here is what you need to set up your own Mad Men inspired bar.

1. There are some amazing vintage bar carts out there but if you haven't scored at the flea market, check out this beauty from West Elm. It is a modern size with vintage flare. I especially love the brass detail on the rail and casters.

2. Zaya Rum. If you haven't tried this rum, you are missing out. It is so smooth!

3. This handsome lamp from Ralph Lauren classes up the place.

4. A little gold foil coaster to set off your drink and keep your furniture looking great.

5. Retro inspired glasses from West Elm. I love this mix and match look with the different gold patterns.

6. Mid Century Bar Tool Set - Hurry up and snatch this vintage find from Atomique47

7. Danish Modern Ice Bucket from MyKnickKnackStore on Etsy. The wood and brass complement the bar cart and lamp nicely.

Springtime Picnic Engagement Session

I'm loving the idea of a picnic engagement photo session. The soft spring colors, dappled sunlight and natural setting make the perfect romantic scene for your engagement photos.

For the perfect engagement outfit, I chose a flowy white dress and lovely mint and gold accessories for a romantic and casual look.

1. Dress by Dolce Vita 2. Earrings by Kate Spade 3. Clutch by Atomique47 4. Sandals by Nine West

The perfect picnic requires some good food and a few key accessories. This picnic basket for two is from Pottery Barn and has all the essentials for a romantic meal for two. Mint paper straws and cupcake flags tie in with the theme and the vintage tablecloth makes a pretty and romantic picnic blanket that becomes the backdrop for your photos.

Now that you've got the outfit, the man and the gear, you just need to find the perfect location!
The beautiful golden California hills would be my pick.

Happy Spring

The beautiful weather, blooming trees and new leaves have me in the springtime mood. I'm really excited about the debut of the Atomique47 Spring Collection which becomes available in the shop tomorrow! Between the weather and new bag designs, I was inspired to add to my Pinterest Board of flower related images.

A simple or unusual container and natural, unfussy arrangement are my favorites. They are stunning, unpretentious and approachable. Maybe my collection will inspire you to bring a little springtime into your own home.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I had enough beer over the weekend so I'm keeping it low key today and decided to celebrate by rounding up some of my favorite green moments in design.

Emerald green looks great with black and white and geometric patterns or even some animal print. Try some of these inspiring combinations at home or in your wardrobe. Enjoy!

Detash?

From Urban Dictionary:

Detash: An alteration of "destash," which means to clean out your accumulated crafting supplies and pass them to others. This is usually accomplished by selling the supplies at bargain price. Used mostly among crafters on etsy.com. Not to be confused with "destache," which is to remove a mustache (and we wouldn't want to do that!).

I've put up some various purse making supplies that I no longer need. The new bags are not quite ready for their big debut but enjoy 10% off the vintage and detash items in the shop.

Moving

After nearly 8 years in Los Angeles my husband and I moved to San Francisco! We left behind our apartment that we had for 5 years, our friends and the city where we met and made a home together but we're excited about this new adventure!

We moved to the Bay Area in November so the past 4 months have been busy with moving, unpacking, learning a completely new city and it's various modes of transportation, meeting new people, lots of interviews and job hunting for me and a dream job for my husband. It has been crazy! I don't remember it being this difficult when I moved to Los Angeles a year after graduating from college. At the time, it was so easy to throw caution to the wind and pack up my very minimal belongings to start a new life. Now... it is all consuming. I have dozens of items for the shop in various stages of completeness that I am working hard to finish. I am looking forward to finishing these and clearing out all of my existing fabrics so I can start completely fresh. Keep an eye out for new merch very soon!

Jamaican Honeymoon

I cannot say enough great things about Jamaica. The food, music, people and scenery were all amazing. We especially loved our small, all inclusive resort in Negril. The Caves is made up of 12 cottages, some common areas for dining, spa and beautiful private nooks built into the cliffs for lounging in the sun and diving into the clear blue Caribbean.

The Reception Decor:

This is where most of my DIY work happened. I cleaned up the vintage birdcage and added moss and the felt birds that my mom made. The tables had the chevron runners and the yellow table numbers I made and the milk glass vases I collected. The signature drink - a margarita (it was Cinco de Mayo after all) was served in a mason jar with gray striped paper straws. The escort "cards" were a hit. As soon as we entered the reception room, I noticed that many of our guests were wearing the flowers. It was so special.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held at the Davenport House Museum Garden.
It is a beautiful walled garden just off Columbia Square.

May 5th, 2012

After stressing over the possibility of rain in the forecast, I woke up early on Saturday morning to sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. It was blazing hot but I did not care!

Two Years

It has been almost two years to the day of my last post. Much has happened since then. The invitations were mailed, we got married in the beautiful city of Savannah, went on a beautiful honeymoon, started a new job and most recently moved to San Francisco. I think I am going to have to write a few posts to catch up!
